"Sam, I have decided to grant you freedom." You are now free to leave
Valentines he said with his gesture signaling there's more to be said.
A law man came around earlier and settled your debts Lord vincent
added conclusively.
I had paid little or no attention to him till my ears caught a glimpse
of the word "freedom," hearing the word I listened attentively because
it was the first time my name is been used in the same context with
the word. Seeing the genuineness, seriousness and sincerity in the
words he spoke, I profusely thanked him as uncontrollably tears rolled
down my cheeks.
Without further delay, I went to the servant quarters, packed my few
belongings as well as my savings over the years. Exiting the
servitudinal structure, I took a long gaze at valentines. The club had
been my home for ten years since the day my parents apparently sold me
out.
My parents were going through financial constraints and to my
understanding, they decided to give me out in exchange for a huge sum
of money. I recall they never visited me and once when I was given a
short break by Lord Vicent, I went over to where we resided but met a
deserted apartment.
I settled down to my life as a servant in the Valentines and at such
discarded the hope and thought of freedom.
Nonetheless, this day like a dream my freedom had been restored and I
hope to begin life anew with what I had been able to save over the
years.
Although my destination is uncertain i'm determined to make something
worthwhile out of life and I someday hope to meet my liberator who my
debts fully paid.
